I SWEAR in the presence of the Almighty Brogan, Godin, my mentors and peers that according to my ability and judgement I will keep this Oath and Stipulation.
TO HOLD all who have taught me this art equally dear as my parents and in the same spirit and dedication to impart a knowledge of the art of blogging to others. I will continue with diligence to keep on top of advances in social media, writing and my industry and will help all who seek my ministrations, so long as the advancement of others is not compromised in the process, and I will seek the counsel of particularly skilled writers when it benefits my audience.
I WILL FOLLOW the method of blogging and commenting which according to my ability and judgment, I consider for the benefit of my community and abstain from whatever is harmful or mischievous. I will neither Spam nor Auto-DM on Twitter a lethal dose of sales bullshit to any reader nor counsel any such thing nor perform without the utmost respect for every human life from log-on to RT.
WITH PURITY, HOLINESS AND BENEFICENCE I will fill my life and practice with my art. Into whatever setting I enter, I will go for the benefit of the anxious and curious and will abstain from every voluntary act of mischief or corruption and further from the seduction of money over relationships.
WHATEVER IN CONNECTION with my professional practice or not in connection with it I may see or hear in the lives of my audience which ought not be spoken abroad, I will not divulge, reckoning that all such should be kept secret. I will protect and honor the community that I have built and ne’er sell nor trade my email lists to advertisers to the detriment of my readers’ inboxes. I will not be a douche.
WHILE I CONTINUE to keep this Oath unviolated may it be granted to me to enjoy life and the practice of the art and creativity of writing with the blessing of the Almighty and respected by my peers and society, but should I trespass and violate this Oath, may Zuckerberg strike me down and the reverse be my lot.
